Hello There,

Thank you for making this far and being interested to know more about me. As you may know my name is Paulo Canabarro, I am a 27 years old web designer from Brazil and I have been living and working out of Providence, RI, USA for the past few years.

This blog is where I want to communicate with people that share or seek the same interests as me, this is the backstage of my work life. I’m hoping you can tune up and come around for a cup of coffee every once in a while. If you like to follow me closer, that are links at the bottom of the page for twitter and other places to find me. Feel free to drop a line and say hi, I love to make friends!

Here is bit more about me:

I have been drawing and obsessed with art since I was a little kid, I guess I carried on this passion into the years and it became an on going fire that burns inside of me. I’ve always knew I wanted to work with something artistic but was never sure of what to be exact. By the age of 14 I got my first computer, back then I was still living in my hometown Vila Velha, ES, Brasil and I was fortunate to have a computer (must kids on just didn’t) but very unfortunate not to have internet. (I know what you thinking, what’s the point of having a computer if you have no internet, right!) Well, that’s when I started playing around on photoshop and flash and that’s when my passion for design began.

A couple year after that, I moved to America, Boston area to be more exactly.  Took me about a year to save some money and buy me a new computer since I couldn’t really bring my desktop from back home, but as soon as I got one (a very old IBM laptop) I dove right back into photoshop and started learning more and more. Back them I started a Photoshop Community called iArena, those were great times and I still have a few friends from that era. All we did was mess around photoshop and teach each other new tricks, as you can see I still have my old manipulations at my deviantart gallery.

Soon I realized that being good in Photoshop was very limited, how would I make a living out of that. I noticed that was always this great line between art and design, and I wanted to cross it over. I always knew I had good talent, but I wasn’t fortunate enough to be able to go to college and study design. That’s when I figured out that getting a degree wasn’t the only way in, so I started studying by myself, reading book after book, making friends with people at the field, getting good advices and pushing myself more and more every time.

In the meanwhile I started blogging for abduzeedo and that really put me on a good spot to get in the design community, posting design inspiration on a daily basis gets you a really good sense of what works and what doesn’t. I’m very thankful to Fabio Sasso for the great opportunity to be part of such an amazing team. That was also when I realized that my passion for web design was growing by the day, I then started studying about web development and learned the basics of HTML and CSS and as soon as I knew what I was doing I started freelancing on the side. I have now been working full time as a freelancer web designer for the past 2 years, I love what I do and I do it with passion because I know how hard was to earn every bit of it. I push my self to be the best of me every time and it has been great.
